Media organizations can strengthen reporting on maternal and women’s health by adopting gender-transformative editorial policies across content production, programming and newsroom management. This includes collaboration across teams, investment in investigative journalism and the use of diverse, credible sources. Public data, human rights mechanisms, United Nations agencies and experts can provide reliable evidence and context. Journalists should also ensure that Indigenous voices, knowledge systems and lived experiences are represented with respect and integrity. “The media help us to be recognized.
